Official Terms for Locum Dental Nurses, Hygienists and Dentists

Key Terms (Candidate Summary)

  • This is a quick guide only. Please read the full Terms & Conditions below.

  • Peace of Mind Dental Recruitment introduces you to locum work in dental clinics on agreed hourly rates.

  • All enquiries, bookings, changes and cancellations for shifts arranged by Peace of Mind must go through Peace of Mind, not directly with the clinic.

  • You must not bypass Peace of Mind by arranging work or payment directly with clinics we introduce you to. Our No-Circumvention clause will apply.

  • If you accept work directly from a clinic we introduced within 12 months of a Peace of Mind booking or introduction, your registration may be ended and we may seek recovery of losses.

  • You must arrive on time, act professionally and follow the clinic’s policies and clinical standards.

  • You must tell Peace of Mind straight away about any issues, complaints, incidents or changes that could affect your work or registration.

  • Peace of Mind may suspend or end your registration if you breach these Terms or behave in a way that could harm patients, clinics or our reputation.
  • 1. Definitions

    Agency – Peace of Mind Dental Staffing.
    Candidate / Worker – Any dental professional registered with the Agency.
    Client – The dental practice where the Worker is placed.
    Assignment – A temporary or locum shift booked through the Agency.
    AWR – Agency Workers Regulations 2010.
    GDPR – UK General Data Protection Regulation.

  • 2. Registration Requirements

    Candidates must provide and maintain: Proof of right to work, GDC registration, Enhanced DBS, Indemnity insurance, Hepatitis B immunisation, CV, Two references, and Training certificates. Failure to maintain compliance may result in removal from the register.

  • 3. Employment Status

    Dental Nurses: Paid monthly via Agency payroll with Tax/NI deducted.
    Hygienists & Dentists: Paid directly by Clients; responsible for own taxes and invoicing.

  • 4. Accepting Assignments

    Candidates may accept or decline shifts. Once accepted, attendance is mandatory. Issues must be reported to the Agency immediately.

  • 5. Lateness & Reliability

    Candidates must arrive on time. The Agency may remove a Candidate if they are late three times in three months or fail to notify the Agency of lateness.

  • 6. Non-Engagement / Inactivity

    Registration may be suspended if a Candidate is inactive or unresponsive for three months.

  • 7. Conduct & Professional Standards

    Candidates must act professionally, follow GDC standards, maintain confidentiality, and respect Client policies.

  • 8. Timesheets

    Hours must be recorded accurately and signed by the Client. Failure to submit may delay payment.

  • 9. Pay

    PAYE workers are paid monthly in arrears for hours worked. No pay for travel or breaks.

  • 10. Holiday (PAYE Only)

    Statutory holiday accrues based on hours worked and must be requested in advance.

  • 11. Sickness

    Notify the Agency immediately. SSP may apply to PAYE workers; self-employed are not eligible.

  • 12. Health & Safety

    Follow Client procedures and report hazards immediately.

  • 13. Data Protection

    Personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR.

  • 14. Permanent Roles

    Candidates must inform the Agency immediately if offered a permanent role by a Client.

  • 15. Termination of Registration

    The Agency may terminate registration for breach of terms, conduct issues, or lapsed compliance.

  • 16. No-Circumvention (Candidates)

    The Candidate agrees that all communication, bookings, payments and engagement relating to any work, shifts or assignments arranged or introduced by Peace of Mind must be conducted exclusively through Peace of Mind.

    The Candidate shall not, whether directly or indirectly, attempt to:
    (a) accept, request or negotiate work, shifts or assignments directly with any clinic, practice or client introduced by Peace of Mind, without going through Peace of Mind;
    (b) request or accept direct payment from any such clinic, practice or client for work arranged by Peace of Mind;
    (c) provide their personal contact details to any such clinic, practice or client for the purpose of arranging work outside of Peace of Mind; or
    (d) otherwise circumvent, avoid or reduce Peace of Mind’s fees in any way.

    If the Candidate accepts work directly from any clinic, practice or client introduced by Peace of Mind within 12 months of the last Peace of Mind booking or introduction, Peace of Mind reserves the right to:
    (a) immediately terminate the Candidate’s registration; and/or
    (b) seek recovery of any loss, costs or damages suffered as a result of such breach.

    Direct payment from a clinic, practice or client to the Candidate for any shift booked through Peace of Mind constitutes a breach of this clause. In such cases, the Candidate remains liable to account to Peace of Mind for any sums received in respect of that shift.

    Peace of Mind reserves the right to suspend or terminate the Candidate’s registration with immediate effect if this clause is breached.

  • 17. Additional Operational Policies

    Travel: Mileage paid at £0.45/mile for travel over 20 miles. Taxis must be pre-approved.

    Appearance: Healthcare professionals must wear clean scrubs and closed-toe shoes. Nails must be short/natural (no gel/acrylic). Minimal jewellery only (studs and wedding bands). Subtle false lashes permitted. Failure to comply may result in removal from shift.
